The tango ensemble Los Taitas consists of the argentine musicians Hernan Ruiz, Marcos Di Paolo, Santiago Cimadevilla and singer Orlando Miño.
All band members have considerable experience in the world of tango music. The musical leader, guitar player Hernan Ruiz, has worked with many of the greatest artists of this genre throughout his career; such as Roberto Rufino, Alberto Podesta, Jorge Valdez, Virginia Luque and Nelly Vazquez, amongst many others.
The band was formed in 2003, with Dario Polonara on bandoneon (later replaced by Santiago Cimadevilla), Juan Otero on gitarron (later Marcos Di Paolo), Hernán Ruiz on guitar and arrangements, and Orlando Miño on vocals.
The style of Los Taitas is a combination of modern and traditional tango music. The music of classical maestros such as Anibal Troilo and that of modern composers such as Astor Piazzolla are represented by the band in its own distinctive style.
The line-up with guitar, guitarron (a special, low-tuned guitar that often takes the role of the bass) and bandoneon results in a rich sound, that allows the band to express the intimate character of the most subtle compositions, as well as the power of the most danceable pieces.
Since its formation, Los Taitas has performed in many important stages in The Netherlands among others, such famous places as the Academia de tango in Amsterdam, De Badcuyp, De Cameleon, het Vondelpark, the tango salon Al Azar in Middelburg, De Boerderij in Huizen, Cuartito Azul’s tango salons in Staal (Rotterdam), De Harmonie in Haarlem and La Milonga de Mabel, in Dordrecht.
They perform often with great success in Belgium, where they’ve shared stage a number of times with bandoneon legend Alfredo Marcucci.
